My paradox

At times,
I wish I were a woman
so that I could cry
but I recall
its not Manly to whimper
so I ball up
not bawling
but then...
that's why I wish I was a woman.

I Miss you

The smile,
Yes! That smile
That’s what won my heart
Perfect...Exquisite!
Made just for me
Showed just to me
In my arms as you lie
Feels so good
Your skin on mine
Fingers entwined
Eyes locked
Lips approach…

Ha!
Eyes stutter open
Am all alone
I wonder!!
Well,
Dreaming won’t get me locked up?
Slowly I close my eyes
Reality too harsh…
The smile… there it is again!
DAMN!!!
...I miss you!

Liquor!!
Coward, monster, vicious brute
Friend to thief and prostitute
Heartless, Godless, hell’s delight
Crude by day and lewd by night
Conscience dulled by demon rum
Liquor, thy name’s

A little thing called love

Love
“It is a doing verb…”
A friend says
Beautiful
Adventurous,
Fulfilling
It brings tears to eyes
Tears of joy…
Tears of sorrow
Sometimes,
It rains…dark heavy clouds
Gloomy moods
Children cannot play
Slippery grounds
Carefully tread
We wait…
And wait some more
For the soil to dry
The birds to chirrup
But it may rain some more
And more again…
Deep mud
The forecast depressing
Who’d be mad?
To wait more
But for this four letter word
Love
With hearts closed
Behind walls of Jericho we hide
Ignore the rain
The thunder, the lightning
Closing our eyes
Inside a dark tunnel
Stumbling, slipping…falling
But shut! Our eyes stay
All because of
This funny little thing called love

Its in you

In a crowd

But I see nought

I hear voices

But they don't speak my tongue

In silence, I see clearly

The will to live

comes not from without

In me lies power

In you lies strength

Captives of our own chains we are

Brother from another mother

I speak to you

To speak to yourself

To unleash your wings

to let go

The heart that desireth life

Is in me; Is in you

Go yee, I say to you

and spread the word

Steve Sonko

Good Morning Dear..

Another morning
Sun rays filter through
Reflecting on your heavenly face
Closed eyes, seeing so beautifully
Lips perfectly together
Only slightly parted
Flirtingly showing milk white dentures
So at peace
In sleep
I ought to leave you
But my joys abound
When you look into my eyes
And my smile
So I rise
With a laugh in my heart
To pay homage to your ancestors
For God’s blessing
Before,
I kiss you awake…..
Good morning dear
Stevo Sonko.
